Strays

If a person who was born in the Avon area is located in another area through an event such as marriage, death, or counted in a census, their details may have been submitted for inclusion in the Strays Index.

Although several references to ‘strays’ appeared in our Journal from very early days, the first formal article on the subject appears to have been published in the autumn of 1980.  Patricia Lindegaard would appear to have been the principal pioneer, and in her footsteps have since followed John Rosser, Ed Tily, Phil Portch and Betty Bourne.
