This index, entitled "They sailed out of the Mouth", reflecting the fact that many ships of this period were too large to navigate the River Avon into the City Docks and now sailed from the new docks at Avonmouth.

The Bristol Record Office holds most of the crew lists for ships registered at the Port of Bristol for the years 1863 to 1913. The lists are organised by year followed by the official number of each ship.

The following information is included:
Surname, Firstname(s), Age/Birthday, Birthplace, Rating, Ships name, Off number and Date.

This index covers the years 1891, 1896, 1901, 1906 and 1911 (every 5th year).
