map godfrey midsomer norton 1902

Old Ordnance Survey Map - Godfrey Edition.
Midsomer Norton 1902

Somerset sheet 20.14
Published: 2020

£3.00 + postage & packing

Unusually, this map is printed on both sides. The full-sheet map covers Welton towards Clandown and the northern half of Midsomer Norton whilst the half-sheet on the reverse side covers the southern half of Midsomer Norton and the land eastwards towards Westfield.

The maps are crossed by the historic Fosse Way and both the Great Western and Somerset & Dorset Railways with their junction and respective stations. Apart from the residential areas and a couple of sizeable country houses, the variety of commercial buildings includes a number of collieries, breweries, brickworks, farms and steam mills. This map provides a most useful picture of the district’s industrial heritage and might be best used in conjunction with the adjoining sheet for Radstock (also available from the Society). The reverse side also contains an introduction to the history of the area.

This edition is the 1904 update of the original 1883 survey.
