In 1480 Bristol was a gateway to the New World.  A town of merchants and traders, the rich and the poor, it was an important and growing place, expanding its trade with Europe and beyond.  Using historic OS mapping in the background, the map brings alive the town know to John Cabot and described in detail by William Worcestre – its streets, lanes, quays, churches, monasteries and merchants’ houses.      Created by the Historic Towns Trust with the support of the University of Bristol.
