An A~Z History of 200 Bristol Street Names

An A~Z History of 200 Bristol Street Names

£0.80 – £1

The origins of street names may appear to be quite obscure. Some are self-explanatory, for example, those incorporating “bridge”, “river” or “field” etc. Others take their names from the activity that took place on that site, for example, the growing or sale of crops, fruit or flowers. Several street names originate from Old English and Middle English spoken between 400-1100 and 1100-1500 respectively.

This booklet provides short explanations of the origins of some 200 Bristol street names.
