A further team of volunteers worked at Bristol City Council’s main Cemeteries Department office at Canford Cemetery in Westbury-on-Trym in the early 2000s. Their task was to transcribe and index the local authority’s Registers of burials at its cemeteries throughout the City, comprising some 250,000 records. The great majority of these were at Greenbank and this resulted in the CD Volume 1. The later Volume 2 CD included Avonview, Brislington, Canford, Henbury, Ridgeway Park and Shirehampton. A further CD was published covering just the Bunhill Fields (Redcross Street, Bristol) burial ground for the period 1805 – 1880. The only Bristol cemetery remaining to be done by the Society is South Bristol which was developed in the 1970s; most of its records were compiled on computer at the time of the burials.
