December 20, 20101871 Census
The 1871 census was taken on the night of Sunday 2nd April 1871. It is very similar in layout to the 1861 census.
The columns in the 1871 census are as follows:
- Number of schedule
- Road, street, etc and number or name of house
- Houses – inhabited or uninhabited (U) or building (B)
- Name and surname of each person
- Relation to head of family
- Condition (i.e. married, widowed, single, etc)
- Age of males/females
- Rank, profession or occupation
- Where born
- Whether 1.Deaf and dumb, 2. Blind, 3.Imbecile or idiot, 4. Lunatic.
