Bristol & Avon Famly History Society will be holding its next Family History Fair on Saturday 9th September 2017

All visitors welcome - if you are not a member if a family history society, come and find out about us

Free Talks and Seminar:-

Seminar: "Starting Your Family History".  We are planning to run this for two hours from about 10.30 with a break in the middle

Talk: Giving your Research 'The WhoDoYouThinkYouAre? Experience' by Sarah Williams, Editor of the magazine of the same name.

Talk: "The Know Your Place West of England Historic Mapping Project" by Peter Insole, the lead officer of the original project started in Brisdtol but which now covers historic Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire as well as Bristol and Bath

Talk: "Researching Adoption" by Penny Walters, professional genealogist

Talk: "The Importance and Value of Ephemera in your Rersearch" by Jane Howells of the British Association for Local History

 

We will be inviting Family History Societies, Local History Societies and Museums as well as the Record Offices/ Archives and commercial exhibitors - Over 30 exhibitors have so far signed up to attend and representatives from Bath Archives and the Somerset Heritage centre will be on hand to give advice..

... and of course a team of people to help you if you have local 'family history' questions.

There will be refreshments available on site to purchase.

There will be a raffle for prizes which include subscriptions to comercial webistes and publications, data CDs, books and storage materials
